Nalbandian Furious!

After a stellar marathon match between John Isner and David Nalbandian, the American proved to have the mettle of a great player to come and managed to win in the 18th game of the last set, with the final score being 4-6 6-3 2-6 7-6 10-8. But the Argentinean was far from content. Allow me to take you back to the fifth set, 8-8, with the tall American serving. The American's serve is one of the fastest on the tour, and even getting the ball into play is considered success. David had a break point. When the American fired his serve down the T, the umpire calls it out but is abruptly overruled by the chair. After a chaotic scene on the court, Nalbandian attempts to challenge but is denied. 8-8, in the fifth set in an extremely hot and fiery math. He is simply denied. The umpire was extremely obtuse about the argument and offered David no opening. A whole scene emerged when officials were called down but yet, the umpire's ruling stood. David said that "What is this? What did the ATP do for this? I didn't understand in that situation, 8-all break point. I mean, can you be that stupid to do that in that moment?". He is completely right. It is an understood rule in tennis that once it becomes that close, simple time violations become obsolete. David eventually lost the match bitterly. However the review shows that Isner's serve was in fact out. The fact that the umpire would go to lengths to overrule the call and then deny the player to challenge leaves me suspicious. Perhaps it was the blazing heat, but it appears that there was some underlying motive. Fame, glory, or just simple disdain for the tennis veteran. Whatever the reason may be, this is an extremely unfair moment that this great player has had to face. It appears as though that the great potential once seen in David will never come to fully blossom.
